April 11, 2010 - Course on Understanding Basic Wind Strategy for Racers

 

ONTARIO SAILING is pleased to offer the members of THE OUTER HARBOUR SAILING FEDERATION a course on: UNDERSTANDING BASIC WIND STRATEGY FOR RACERS

Understanding the basic principles of wind's behaviour on the course is key for any racer. This course covers the basics such as; what make wind, gradient wind, gusts and lulls, lake breeze, basic cloud interactions with wind, understanding the weather map, predicting changes in the course wind, basic rules of thumb, locating sources of real time wind data.

All student materials are included.

October 4, 2009 - Fall War - Club Race & BBQ

 

On Sunday, October 4, starting at noon, we will hold our Fall War Club Race & BBQ. All are welcome for free afternoon of competitive racing and dinner. $5 dinners for non-members.

 

June 20-21, 2009 - Cat Open Regatta

Cat Open is this weekend, Sat 20 and Sun 21. Read the notice of race for details.

 

June 6-7, 2009 - Notice of Race - Spring War!

Where: Water Rat Sailing Club

When: June 6-7, 2009

  • Registration 9-10am
  • Skippers Meeting 10am
  • First Warning Signal 11am
  • First Warning Signal Sunday, 10:30am
  • Laser, Radial - $25 Laser 2 - $30
  • Dinner after sailing on Saturday
  • Snack after sailing on Sunday

 

June 4, 2009 - Laser Training Session

Where: Water Rats Sailing Club

When: Thursday, June 4 at 6:00 p.m.

Ken Walton will be conducting a Laser training session in replacement of the Thursday races, as a preparatory training for the Spring War.  While we all love racing, a day of training will be very beneficial for all beginner to advanced sailors. Ken will be running a race clinic which focuses on boat handling, starts, and small windward-leeward races.  He will be starting an on-land briefing at 6:00 p.m., and a debriefing following the training. Hope to have everybody out, and improving their sailing skills!

Thank you everyone for your hard work on clean up day

 

Registration after clean up day will be considered late and a late fee will be added. Please make arrangements with the Body Rat (Membership) to register late. Registration must be done by May 31 or you will loose your spot.
